TERMS
Use it to discover, and to keep things running.
These terms cover lightbound.space and everything you can sign up for here: Gauss plans (which include Gauss Argo), Gauss for Education, and Constellation membership, events and workshops. Lightbound Limited (company no. 14573199, 30A Commercial Street, Harrogate, HG1 1AX) provides them.
Draft for legal review. Not yet in force; the version in force will carry its date here.
Ethical use
Our principles follow the space community’s own: space for peaceful purposes, as in the Outer Space Treaty and the Artemis Accords; open, shared science, as in ESA’s and NASA’s data policies; and NASA’s principles for ethical AI (fair, explainable, accountable, secure and safe, human-centred, and scientifically robust). In practice, you agree to:
- Use it for peaceful purposes: discovery, research, education, safe operations and resilience. Not to plan or carry out attacks, to target people, or to develop weapons.
- Do no harm: no unlawful surveillance of people, no harassment, and no interfering with other people’s systems, networks or space operations.
- Keep a person in charge: Gauss is advisory. It shows evidence and never commands a spacecraft; decisions stay with qualified people.
- Be honest about what it is: present Gauss results as evidence and advice, never as an approval to fly, and keep synthetic examples labelled as synthetic.
- Keep it secure: keep your sign-in to yourself, and tell us about security problems you find (jzwnathan@lightbound.uk) rather than exploiting them.
- Follow the law: including export-control and sanctions rules. Our services aren’t for people or places those rules exclude.
In return, we explain how Gauss works and where it stops, label what is synthetic or planned, keep only the data we need (see the privacy notice), and treat your data as yours: we use it only to provide the service.
Plans and prices
Prices are shown before you start, and you see the full amount on the payment page before you pay. Gauss plans are quoted to your scope and agreed in writing. Prices for buyers in the UK include VAT where Lightbound has to charge it. Gauss Argo is included with a paid Gauss plan, at no extra cost, for as long as the plan is active. Self-serve plans (Gauss for Education for staff) are available in the UK only for now.
Cancelling and refunds
- Monthly plans roll month to month, with no minimum term and no cancellation fee.
- Cancel any time in one click from Manage billing in your workspace. It stops renewing straight away, and you keep access until the end of the month you’ve paid for.
- Not satisfied? Ask for a refund within 30 days of any payment and we’ll refund that payment in full. No forms, no questions.
- Quoted work (pilots, Fleet Integration, department licences) follows the terms in your quote, including refunds for any part we haven’t delivered.
- Constellation membership, events and the student plan of Gauss for Education are free.
None of this reduces your rights under consumer law.
The service
We work to keep everything running and accurate, and we say plainly when data is stale or unknown. Space weather and network conditions are uncertain, so Gauss and Gauss Argo give evidence and advice, not guarantees. We may suspend an account that breaks these terms, and we’ll tell you why.
Changes and contact
If we change these terms we’ll show the new date here and tell people with accounts by email before the change applies. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. Questions: jzwnathan@lightbound.uk.
