CONSTELLATION · OUTREACH
Teach space with real space weather.
Gauss for Education brings live NOAA space weather, the Gauss replay and a lab pack into the classroom, for space-engineering courses, CubeSat teams and research groups.
Free for students with a university email. Staff and research groups subscribe monthly; departments take a yearly licence.
01_WHAT_YOU_GET
A classroom built on live data.
Storm levels from raw data
Turn GOES proton flux and Kp into NOAA’s S and G levels, and learn why a stale reading is unknown, not zero.
Field lines and the belts
The dipole equation behind the landing page’s animation: where the belts sit and why the aurora forms where it does.
Which data can we trust?
Label the Gauss replay record by record, then write an evidence note and compare it with a sample report.
Fault isolation on the ground
Treat a laptop’s network like a spacecraft subsystem, using Gauss Argo’s detect, isolate and recover loop.
A prototype lab pack: four labs to start. They use public data and this site’s demos, so a class can run them without installing anything. The replay and sample report are synthetic and labelled as such.

Quoted per year
Every course in a department, quoted per year.
For teaching and non-commercial research. Gauss is advisory: it shows evidence and never commands a spacecraft.
03_WHO_CAN_JOIN
Your university email is your key.
- Sign-in is by a one-time code sent to your university email: no password.
- Addresses at universities (such as .ac.uk, .edu and .edu.my) need no review.
- Students confirm they’re students; the free year renews with the same check.
- No university address? Tell us about your course and a person reviews it.
- Departments get one yearly licence, quoted on request.
- For teaching and non-commercial research, not for operating a spacecraft.
